Black-bellied Plover

This plover was spotted at Damon Point State Park near Ocean Shores, WA during late April of 2002. Although from the shiny back it appears to be one of the "golden" plovers, the underparts identify it as a male Black-bellied.

This lone Dunlin showed up at the Montlake Fill in Seattle one fall. Although we get huge numbers of Dunlin during the winter, seeing one in breeding plumage is a rare treat.

This sandpiper was seen poking around along a snowy road in the Samish flats, WA in January 2005. In this shot, you can barely make out the yellow legs indicative of a Least.

This flock of Western Sandpipers was photographed at Ocean Shores, WA in August of 1995. These birds migrate through the area in enormous numbers.
